My Journey with Big Mouth!

Mighty Mouth, Big Mouth Theatre, New Forest

I joined Big Mouth Theatre at the age of 5, I started doing the after school clubs and was hooked! I then joined the Mini Mouths at Big Mouth Saturdays as soon as I was old enough.

Since being a part of Big Mouth not only have I learnt new drama techniques and done many productions, I have made some amazing friendships that I will forever cherish.

Holly, Adrian and all the coaches are incredible!

Since joining Big Mouth my confidence has grown. Having cerebral palsy I have always worried about what others think or what I can and cannot do. But, Big Mouth have helped me overcome these worries by being fully inclusive and always there for support. I went from a quiet 5 year old to a bubbly 16 year old, this is all thanks to Big Mouth. Sometimes being pushed out my comfort zone but you have to be uncomfortable to get comfortable.

Show days are good fun, I remember my first show. I was very quiet and rather nervous, but as the years went on I learnt to overcome my nervous and use them in a good way. Now I LOVE being on stage.

I really enjoyed creating our own performances using just a theme. I developed skills in so many areas, it has helped develop my imagination skills over the years which has then been transferred into my English Language GCSE story writing. From brainstorming our initial ideas to starting rehearsals the whole process is good fun. Getting to show off all our hard work, performing our final piece on show day with a huge sense of pride made the whole process worth while.

My favourite role I have performed would have to be Chip from Beauty and the Beast. This performance was super special for me as it was a fundraiser to help me get the surgery I needed to improve my cerebral palsy.

I have LOVED every minute of being apart of Big Mouth Theatre from the very beginning. I am going to miss working with everyone and all the laughter. But I certainly will return to help.
